The octagon next to Glacier National Park wilderness entrance: Four stories with 5000 square feet of off the grid living. Walk down the driveway to the North fork of the Flathead river. Here you can swim across or walk a few hundred feet to the bridge leading into the most remote part of Glaicer National park with several large fiord like lakes accessible only from this entrance. Alternatively walk the other way along the river for about one mile and you arrive at the eclectic/artistic outpost of Polebridge comprised of the world famous Polebirdge mercantile and bakery; Northern Lights saloon and restaurant; and a little bit father back, the Home Ranch Bottoms eatery and bar. The top three stories are for guests use as the unfinished basement is locked off because it houses the inards for running this monster wilderness home.Solar powered unless some city sliker abuses the upper limit and then the noisy generator kicks on (Ha! I'll teach you the basics, so just enjoy) Soak in the wood fired hot tub in the back yard or build a fire in the wood fired sauna next to the tub. Basic internet only (no skypping or streaming), but ample movies and library provide ample entertainment for those less avid about trekking about through the adjascent wilderness and game corridor. Enjoy commanding views from the 40 windows placed for maximizing the land scape surrounding this lovely home. Walk out into the wilderness gardens and green house to grub on seansonal delicacies or just plop into the hammocks sitting amongst the aspens. Addionally the flat ground surrounding the home provides incredible biking for those of you capable of riding on gravel road surfaces. On top of all this at the nearby bridge is the put in/take out for river floaters! If lakes are your thing, then just drve across the bridge and paddle board or kyak on the spectacular local lakes with towering 10,000 foot mounttains on both sides. house rules: no smoking, not a party house, please take your shoes off, shut the doors and please keep the screens on or the misquitos will eat you alive (they seem to come out at night). The numerous birds do a pretty good job at eating these critters. Also realize that this home is a wilderness location, so the caretaker is happy to advise on staying alive and well. Happy travels

Cabin (1000 sq. ft.) in Polebridge, MT
5.9 miles from Bowman Lake
Welcome to the “End of the Rainbow”! Located at the very end of Rainbow Drive and adjacent to the North Fork River itself, our 2 bedroom log cabin is less than 100 steps from the river bank. Early in the summer while the river is high, you can HEAR the river's soothing sounds. As the water goes down in July and August, the river moves to the main channel and access is somewhat limited due to the steep eroding bank. We have done everything we can to provide you with a pleasurable “off the grid” experience: 4 adults will be very comfortable on King and Queen beds, with a full kitchen, large propane refrigerator and stove, indoor shower with on-demand hot water, wood stove for heat, spacious covered front porch with BBQ, firepit, and screened-in gazebo – a perfect spot for your morning breakfast, an afternoon read, or cocktails. This screened-in area really helps to make your time outdoors more enjoyable! And the best part: no cellphone service, no TV, no Wi-Fi or internet…BUT we have a phone! Feel free to make any local calls you like (call the Mercantile Bakery to reserve hot cinnamon rolls for breakfast, call the Northern Lights Saloon to check on their live music schedule, or call Home Ranch Bottoms to see what’s for dinner. All other phone calls (long distance) require a phone card, so be sure to pick one up before you leave home. A short distance from the cabin is our bunkhouse, which is also available to rent. It sleeps 3 in a bunk bed with a double mattress on the bottom and a twin mattress on top. This is a small, simple structure with no cooking or washing facilities. Our most popular feature, hands-down, is our OUTHOUSE. Seriously, located so close to the River, this is the only type of bathroom Flathead County will allow us. Again, we have done our best to make even this enjoyable with lots of reading material, a cushioned toilet seat, battery lights, and bug spray! We even have a solar shower area behind the outhouse where you can hang solar water bags (provided) to take an outdoor shower. “Off the grid” means we depend on our small solar system for electricity. It will adequately light the rooms and pump the water from the well. However, that power is not endless – especially on cloudy days – it will shut itself off to save the batteries. Therefore, please conserve by turning off unneeded lights, using one of the plentiful flashlights available, and keeping your showers as short as possible. Propane lights are available in the downstairs rooms providing soft lighting and a bit of added warmth. The owners are avid fly fishing enthusiasts, so the cabin, bunkhouse, and outhouse have numerous fishing decorations and touches. If you need information on fishing and rafting opportunities in the area, please check your Welcome Kit. Located in the small community of Polebridge, our cabin is only 2 blocks from the Mercantile Bakery or Saloon, and 1 mile from the Polebridge Ranger Station, entrance to Glacier Park’s Bowman or Kintla Lakes. Either side of the River offers endless hiking, biking, birding, fishing, swimming, and floating opportunities. Our Manager, Karina, is available to answer any questions you might have – easily reachable by phone. We SHARE this exceptional countryside with the birds and animals who were here first: grizzly and black bears (keep your bear spray handy even around the cabin), mountain lions, deer, moose, elk, wolves, coyotes, osprey, and eagles. The more time you spend away from the cabin, the more you will see! We hope you’ll make time to just “come to the simpler life”, and enjoy our quieter, slower pace that being “off the grid” entails! Our “End of the Rainbow Cabin” certainly offers all of that to you. COVID-19 Update: Additional cleaning procedures are being implemented for our 2020 season. Here is how it affects your stay at our remote property. First, in the kitchen, we are providing ONLY paper goods (plates, bowls, cups and plastic utensils) for your use. Cooking utensils are sanitized in accordance with health department regulations between each guest. Please follow the directions for dish sanitation provided at the cabin. In the bathroom and bedroom, fresh linens will be bagged. Before you depart, please bag all used linens as directed in our cabin user guide. There will be an additional linen charge per bed used due to larger volume of "off-grid" laundry. If you wish to bring your own linens and avoid the "off-grid" laundry fee. Please notify the property manager. As always, we do our best to ensure a clean and safe environment for our guests. Use of this remote property is a choice you make and you assume all health risks associated with the use of the property.

In addition, Pronghorn offers a fully-equipped kitchen, and a combined dining and living room area with an energy-efficient Jotul wood stove. Logs, which are cut from our own property, are provided. Welcome to Hart’s Core! A large log home situated on a beautiful estate across the river from Glacier National Park. William B Yeatts wrote in his beloved poem “The Lake Isle of InnisFree” of his deep longing for a favored retreat. “And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow, Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings; There midnight’s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow, And evening full of the linnet’s wings.” “Peace comes dropping slow” the moment Hart’s Core opens its doors for you to enjoy the open concept living areas, surrounded by 3 separate lofts. Choose a thought provoking selection from well stocked bookshelves and relax to Brahms, Mozart, Schumann and more as you snuggle down on the custom futon in sun drenched reading loft, stretch out on one of the sofas, or a comfortable chair on the expansive deck overlooking your private trout pond. Gather with family and friends around the antique dining table, long a host to philosophical conversations, North Fork storytelling and gourmet meals. The AGA stove, invented by blind Swedish physicist Gustaf Dalén provides an unique cooking experience for your chef. More familiar amenities include a 1950s propane range and oven, full size refrigerator, dish washer and pantry offering additional equipment and food storage space not always found in the wilderness. A spacious laundry/utility area are also located just off the kitchen. A stay at Core also affords the rare luxury of creating your culinary delights with seasonal produce sampled from estate gardens. Just check with the caretaker to see what is available. Spend delightful hours creating your literary masterpiece at the fully equipped writer’s center while “veils of the morning” dissipate from the mountain peaks of Glacier and mist arises off the trout pond just paces from your window. The expansive deck with grill, ample seating and summer flowers extend your living space outdoors to experience moon rise and “midnight’s glimmer”, the Northern Lights. Launch your raft at the border and float to Ford, just one half mile from Hart’s Core. Take to the nearby trails and discover peace, beauty and panoramic views one footstep at a time. Enter Glacier at the Polebridge Ranger Station and explore the lakes and don’t forget to stop by the historic Polebridge Mercantile for a pastry. After a day exploring return to your Core and relax in the spacious master bedroom with private deck access and views of the mountains. Your bathroom adjoins and is shared with your guests using the south sleeping loft. The secondary bedrooms have private access to a shared bathroom with shower. A ladder stair in one bedroom leads to the second sleeping loft and children’s nook. Do you hear the call of Montana deep in your “heart’s core”? Heed the call, gather family and friends to share the adventure, Hart’s Core awaits your arrival.

Raft the North Fork of the Flathead River, hike, bike out your door, travel passes to see the high country. This beautiful and unique home will be a close home base for your visit to Montana. Minutes from the entrance of Glacier Park, this hideaway is ideal for your larger groups. Fully equipped kitchen, large back yard area, decks will leave you relaxed. TV will provide you with entertainment for down times since internet speeds are not too speedy. This entire home is solar powered giving you the modern Montana experience. The home was recently set up for Airbnb, so you will be the first guests this year. Log look lodge inside a frame home, this open and airy concept living space is high on the square footage. The home is powered by large solar panels. There is not a view, but a beautiful setting! This home has two bathrooms. However, one is upstairs has a curtain instead of a door. The tub is set out in the open, much like a honeymoon suite, but may be lacking in privacy for those that seek it. The main floor bathroom has a separate toilet/shower from the double sink vanity which also houses the washer and dryer. The home is set in a private location without neighbors. The bedrooms do not have doors, but are large, open rooms, one in the daylight basement (with door on the entrance going down to the basement), and one in the large open loft area where there are two beds. There is a large closet upstairs for changing. Be sure to close the garage door, and keep all garbage inside the cans in the garage to avoid attracting wildlife. The deck door needs to be pulled tightly to close. Please check out the photos well before booking. The home is very spacious, with plenty of room to spread out. This entire home is powered by solar panels and battery back up which will not show on the surface. For this reason, we ask that you not run the jacuzzi with any other appliances or water running elsewhere. It uses a lot of power and will cause the system to not be able to keep up. If you have the washer, the dryer, the shower, the bathtub and oven going, something similar will happen. Feel free to use everything, with these guidelines. The internet works here, but is very limited. We will charge for extra Wi-Fi usage. Please only use for checking email. Do not sync to upload photos. Internet is very slow as well, and should not be counted on to work well due to the remote locale. At the moment, the washer is a bit noisy, and you will want the door to remain closed. There are gas heaters on each level, which can offer a chance to take off the chill. However, I would recommend forgoing that in the summer. Open the windows at night and close them to keep it nice and comfortable temp during the day. If you run a heater in the morning when you are cold, you will be too hot in the day in the summer. There is no air conditioning, but fans, but no need for it in this area, if you do this.

Located on almost an acre of private property with Fish Creek and Apgar Creek flowing through the property, Glacier Bear is a quiet, private and peaceful haven. Aptly named “Retreat”, Glacier Bear is perfect for nature-loving families who are looking for a quiet place to reconnect with the natural beauty of Glacier National Park. (If you’re looking for a party house, this isn’t the place for you.) In the more than 1,100,000 acres that comprise Glacier National Park, there are only about 100 private landowners, and combined, these parcels equal less than 300 acres. Owning a home inside Glacier is rare; staying in one as a guest is even more so. And because you'll be staying inside the park, you won't need to wait in long lines - sometimes over an hour-long - to get through the entrance station every day, letting you relax the entire time you're on vacation! **Luxurious Amenities & Accommodations Over Three Floors** This storybook cottage in the woods was designed and built as the perfect place to create memories, so your Glacier holiday is one of your best vacations ever. From the concierge amenities available, to the fully stocked bar and rec room, we want you to feel like you’re on vacation. From bathroom amenities like Aveda body wash, shampoo and conditioner, to the warm, cozy down comforters, we want you to feel like you’re being spoiled. The main floor contains the Great Room, the Dining Room, the Chef’s Kitchen, the Lazy Bear Master Suite with private bath, a powder room, and a hallway with reading nook and library shelves. Most of these books came from the original Grist home and date back as far as the early 1800s. You are welcome to enjoy them with care while you’re here. From the main level, you can also easily access the screened porch for outdoor grilling, dining or simply relaxing. The upper level contains the Grist Room queen bedroom, the Bunk Room, a shared bathroom, and a small desk on the mezzanine above the Great Room. The lower level Rec Room is your recreation destination with an Olhausen pool table, a dartboard and our beautiful custom built 16' bar, showcasing local Montana spirits. The adjacent Media Room has a large flatscreen television and a selection of movies for your enjoyment. With an L-shaped couch with recliners, you'll feel so cocooned in comfort you won't want to get up! And if you'd like to meditate or do some yoga, it's easy to create the space you need. The Garden Room queen bedroom and a separate bathroom finish off the level. You can also experience Glacier’s beauty just by walking outside from the main level. Our wraparound screened porch has a large dining table with plenty of seating as well as a high-quality gas grill. Outdoor living at Glacier Bear Retreat is as good as it gets - we have 6 bicycles, 2 closed kayaks, hammocks, yoga mats, a large fire pit, and even your own “private island” with picnic table all available for your use. Plus, your very own private hot tub is perfect for relaxing after a long day of hiking! Upstairs or downstairs, indoors or out, you can be as connected as you want to be, whether that’s not at all or in touch with family, friends, or others using our fast wifi network, our landline with unlimited US long-distance calls, or your mobile phone. **Your Perfect Home Base For Glacier National Park** Glacier Bear Retreat is perfectly located as your base for exploring the wonders of Glacier National Park. Just steps away from breathtaking Lake McDonald, you can fill your day with recreational boating (rentals available), swimming, or photographing the range of mountain peaks that frame the lake. You’re a few minutes walk from the town of Apgar, where you can grab a morning coffee, an ice cream, enjoy the offerings of the café or shop in the gift shops. We’re also connected to miles of paved trails leading into the town of West Glacier (about 3 miles away), so you’ll have ample opportunities for easy hiking and mountain biking too. Or, just hang out by the stream or on the screened porch, pick huckleberries, curl up in the window seat and read a book, or just rest, relax and enjoy the beauty that is Glacier Bear Retreat. Drive the 52-mile Going to the Sun Road for a host of photographic and hiking options. We’re happy to recommend guides for horseback riding, white water rafting, helicopter tours, fly-fishing and other recreational activities too. And, if you’re not interested in driving, you’re only a short walk from the Apgar transportation center where you can enjoy a ride on the historic Glacier Red Cars or take the free shuttle bus throughout the Park. A week simply won’t be enough time to enjoy all that Glacier Bear Retreat has to offer! **Reserve Your Dates Before It's Too Late!** Glacier Bear Retreat is a one-of-a-kind property. Rarely are properties INSIDE of Glacier National Park ever made available for others to enjoy. We’re opening our home to a select few families - and we’re looking to build relationships with repeat guests. We take reservations well in advance and it’s not uncommon for Glacier Bear Retreat to be fully booked during the park’s peak weeks in July and August by early spring. If you are interested in creating memories at Glacier for your family or friends, we highly recommend you get in touch today. **Winter Getaways** Glacier Bear Retreat is available year-round in all seasons. However, the snow season offers a unique opportunity to experience a remote retreat, as the road to Glacier Bear is closed from January 1st-March 15th, depending upon the weather. (This means that you’ll have to walk 2/10th of a mile to access the property in the wintertime, but it will be totally private and oh so beautiful!) Imagine spending a week at a warm, cozy “Currier and Ives” storybook cottage in the woods… writing your next novel, brainstorming your next business idea, or just relaxing by the fire reconnecting with friends and family. For those who love the snow, snowman building, snowshoeing and cross country skiing are available right from your front door. Snowmobiling tours are available 15 minutes away, outside the Park.

Welcome to Ten Mile Post, located on the North Fork Road -- this modern cabin in the woods offers all the comforts of the home, like cell & WiFi service, along with a quiet place to unwind. Off the beaten path, this cabin sits perched on a hillside among diverse native trees, surrounded by Huckleberry bushes, Bear Grass, and other wild flowers. The back porch cantilevers out over the hillside showcasing views of the Apgar mountains in Glacier National Park which makes for an amazing place to watch the sun rise or set. Ten Mile Post is the perfect home base for families who want to come together and enjoy the natural beauty of NW Montana in a private setting. Located just 10 miles north of Columbia Falls and 10 miles from West Glacier, this cabin boasts a fully stocked kitchen and living area that connects with a large exterior deck (containing a gas grill) making it easy to relax outside. The indoor - outdoor bar is my favorite part of this cabin as it makes for the best place to enjoy food and beverages with friends and loved ones. This cabin sleeps 6-8 comfortably. Downstairs, on the ground level, you will find 2 twin bunks just off the living area and a queen sized pull-out couch. There is a full bathroom with a tiled shower as well as a washer and dryer. On the 2nd floor, there are 2 twin bunks in the open loft entertainment area and then the master bedroom has one queen sized bed. Also located on the 2nd floor is a giant lounge net that provides a fun and comfortable place for kids of all ages to unwind after a day of adventuring. There is a second full bathroom with tiled shower on the 2nd floor as well. This cabin has numerous books and games on hand along with Netflix and a few DVD's & VHS movies. We try to make things as homey as possible. We are located exactly one mile from Glacier Rim river access on the North Fork of the Flathead River and encourage swimming in the refreshing water, even if it is a bit brisk! With so much to do and so little time, my advice is stay that extra day, it will be worth it! For more information and pictures you can find us on Instagram @TenMilePost Book your adventure today!

Guestbook Quotes: July 13, 2014 We enjoyed spending the last few days of our honeymoon here. Our only complaint is that the time went too fast! We loved hiking in Glacier, strolling around the town of Whitefish. The lake is so peaceful and it was fun hearing the loons. We also enjoyed using the rowboat. Thanks so much for your hospitality. It was a very special trip and we look forward to returning! Courtney & Chris – Hanover, PA July 21, 2014 We thoroughly enjoyed our time here on Spoon Lake. We saw and heard the loons each morning – amazing how long they stay under when they dive! Our girls enjoyed fishing form the dock and a few boat rides with dad. As others have mentioned, we were shocked at how well stocked the kitchen is! After two days in GNP, we were disappointed to have seen no wildlife other than birds and chipmunks, but tonight by the campfire a beautiful doe decided to stroll by. We are so happy to have shared this peaceful “Serene Lakefront Cabin” here in Montana. The Ridgeway Family - Kansas City, KS August 2, 2014 Excellent week at Spoon Lake. Loved the lake, the loons, ducks, humming birds and bunnies. Enjoyed eating outdoors, lucking out with a week of glorious weather and very few bugs. Staffaronis – Dallas, TX August 14, 2014 This is a place where everything begins and everything ends. It is peace. It is quiet. It is all. We’ve enjoyed our time in Montana, which was our 1st. Glacier Park far exceeded our expectations and the cabin is a peaceful retreat from hiking all day.
